BBQ Maple Peaches

This is one of those really easy, really tasty summer desserts that will really impress. Really!

Ingredients:
  • Canadian Maple Syrup
  • Fresh juicy Peaches - the kind that are soft and mouth-watering (although the beauty of this recipe is that you can use the kind of peaches that are disappointing as well - this recipe will "fix 'em up!"
  • Wooden or metal BBQ Shish Kabob Sticks
  • Sprig of fresh mint or almond slices dipped in powdered sugar for garnish

Directions:

  • Pre-slice peaches in half, remove and discard pits and place in bowl
  • Gently thread the peach halves onto the sticks allowing for 3 or 4 halves per stick (depending on size of peaches) - you want to leave enough room on each of the sticks to easily manipulate them before and after cooking. Thread the peaches from end to end (where the stem would have been)
  • Place on tray or in large bowl (covered with tea towel) in a cool place until needed
  • When ready - take your peaches and Maple syrup with a bbq basting brush to the BBQ! BBQ peaches skewers on medium heat with a gentle to generous basting of maple syrup on each side. Cook for 2 minutes per side or to your preference.
  • Remove from heat and serve!

You can hand your guests each a skewer or serve the skewers for "help yourself serving" in a large bowl
OR
For a more refined service - remove peaches from skewers and arrange two halves per serving in a small bowl or plate with a lip then (even though peaches can be enjoyed by themselves) to be truly decadent - enjoy with a dollop of fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream on the side along with the almond slices or fresh mint sprigs as garnish.

Easy!
Yummy!
Impressive!
